Home Business
Traditional Home Businesses
| I think one of the oldest "home based businesses" is that of child care. Of course back in the day it was called 'babysitting', but even though the name has changed, the premise remains the same. Call it child care or day care, it still means babysitting. Depending on the number of children you care for, you can make a very good income doing this. There are a few things you have to know and apply to the business of caring for the children of others. You might have to have a 'day care' license if you care for more than a few children. Check your city or state regulations. Depending on how elaborate your set up is, there might be inspections you have to go through. You might offer meals or snacks or the parent might want to send their own along with the children. You must be made aware of any allergies the child might have, and be prepared to give medication if the situation arises. It's a very good idea to take a first aid and CPR course. You also have to have the patience to deal with many children at once. Children do tend to have tantrums, especially in a strange environment. All that said, a child care home based business might be the way for you to go if you want to stay at home and still make an income. |
